Raising kids in a multicultural / multilingual environment? Looking to meet other families in a similar situation? Come join us at Raising Multilingual Children / Hafu Project - Seminar & Party! Information session followed by party with free drinks (excl. alcohol) and new friends!

Details:
Seminar (1.5hrs) will be followed by party (1.5hrs) in an adjacent room.
Both spaces are suitable for kids so please bring your whole family!
Following the seminar will be fundraising for the Hafu Film, so please give generously to support their anticipated summer launch!
Feel free to bring your own food and drink for the party.

Cost:
JPY1,250 per adult including drink bar for party (excl. alcohol) and venue fee.

JALT Conference 2011
This year's conference was again another success for the Bilingualism SIG, with a forum on the teenage years and a number of other presentations (listed below). If you didn't have a chance to present this time, please watch the conference website--submission proposals for next year's conference will be due around April or May 2012.

The 2012 National JALT conference will be October 12 (Fri) - 15 (Mon) 2012, at Hamamatsu, Shizuoka Prefecture.

Bilingual families face various challenges and opportunities in continuing to foster bilingualism and biculturalism as their children enter the teenage years. JALT’s Bilingualism SIG will present a discussion on this important stage in a bilingual’s development at its annual Forum at the JALT International Conference in Yoyogi, Tokyo, Nov. 18-21, 2011.

Intended as a practical, experience-based discussion by and for parents raising children bilingually, this panel will ask questions such as:

HAFU: A film about the experiences of mixed-Japanese living in Japan
This film by and about hafu Japanese people is currently in production, but they need your help to get it finished.
