The Japan Journal of Multilingualism and Multiculturalism - 多言語多文化研究 (ISSN: 1348-4095) is a publication of the Japan Association for Language Teaching (JALT) Bilingualism SIG.

This is the only bilingual academic journal in Japan devoted entirely to issues of bi-/multi-lingualism and multiculturalism. As our journal title suggests, we welcome manuscripts in both English and Japanese. Its remit is wide, covering bilingual acquisition and education, heritage language, identity, translanguaging, plurilingual pedagogy, language policy, language attrition, and bilingual child-raising. We are concerned not only with bilingual acquisition but also with language use and practice in societies where the global mobility of people and languages is increasingly central. In this context, the focus and agenda of this journal have never been more vital. It publishes original academic articles and reviews of books and other media on related topics in Japanese contexts.

It is published electronically on the Bilingualism SIG website  (https://www.bsig.org/jjmm) once a year. Back issues can be viewed one year after publication at the same URL. It is indexed by Cabells Scholarly Analytics and by EBSCO.

​

Volume 31 of The Japan Journal of Multilingualism and Multiculturalism - 多言語多文化研究 was released in December, 2025 and work is now proceeding on Volume 32.

『多言語多文化研究（The Japan Journal of Multilingualism and Multiculturalism）』（ISSN: 1348-4095）は、全国語学教育学会（JALT）バイリンガリズム研究部会（Bilingualism SIG）が発行する学術誌です。

​

本誌は、多言語主義および多文化主義に関する諸問題に焦点を当てたバイリンガル学術誌として日本唯一のものです。誌名が示す通り、英語と日本語両方の原稿の投稿を受け付けます。扱う領域は幅広く、バイリンガル習得と教育、継承語、アイデンティティ、トランスランゲージング、複言語教育、言語政策、言語喪失、バイリンガル子育てなどを含みます。本誌が関心を寄せるのは、バイリンガル習得そのものだけでなく、人とことばのグローバルな移動がますます顕著化する社会における言語使用と実践のあり方にもあります。このような昨今の状況において、本誌の焦点と課題はこれまで以上に重要性を帯びていると言えるでしょう。尚、本誌は日本の文脈に関連するオリジナルの学術論文、および書籍やその他メディアの書評を掲載しています。

本誌はバイリンガリズム研究部会のウェブサイト（https://www.bsig.org/jjmm）にて、年一回電子版で発行されます。バックナンバーは、発行から一年後に同URLで閲覧可能です。Cabells Scholarly AnalyticsおよびEBSCOに索引登録されています。

『多言語多文化研究』第31号は2025年12月に発行され、現在第32号の編集作業が進行中です。
